La Pommade is a waterless, petrolatum-free ointment carrying retinyl acetate, a gentle vitamin A ester, in a base of plant waxes and oils. Ceramide NP, sphingolipids and phytosterols sit alongside it to support a comfortable moisture barrier, while calendula, arnica, golden seaweed and black cumin seed oil calm the look of redness that often comes with starting a retinoid.

The occlusive texture holds moisture in place overnight, so skin wakes up cushioned rather than tight. Used consistently, it smooths the look of fine lines and helps even the appearance of tone and texture. Suitable for retinoid beginners at one to three nights a week, and for experienced users nightly.

If your skin is sensitive or new to retinoids, apply a pea-sized amount over your moisturizer one to three nights a week and build up gradually. If you are retinoid-experienced, apply the same amount to clean, slightly damp skin four to seven nights a week. Wear sunscreen daily.

How To Use

Both work. If your skin is sensitive, apply it over your moisturizer — the retinoid sandwich — which buffers it and reduces the chance of flaking. If your skin is resilient, apply it directly to clean, slightly damp skin.
Keep them on separate nights while you build tolerance. Once your skin is settled, vitamin C in the morning and this at night is a sensible pairing.
